Hi, I'm Andrea, AFE business owner and event coordinator.  I was born and raised in Roanoke and graduated from JMU with a degree in Business concentrated in Hospitality & Tourism Management.  I currently live in Bedford County with my husband, Tyler, and our furbabies, Leelou & Penelope. 

I love planning events and always have! The greatest thing about my job is working with different clients all the time and helping them create an event that is unique to them and just as they imagined.  Each event is different and I love that about what I do.  I've been planning events and weddings for over 12 years and being able to create something beautiful from what a client envisions is very special to me. 

AFE is based in the Roanoke area but I love to travel to new places and venues! I can't wait to hear from you and help make your event special! 

Stepping into the shoes of a bride​​…

After planning weddings and special events for as long as I have, I thought I knew almost everything about the intricacies of event planning.  Knowing that I am confident in and I love what I do and also knowing that I always have new things to learn, I started to tackle my own wedding planning immediately after Tyler & I found a venue for our wedding day. 

Wow, there were so many aspects about planning from the bride's side that are so uniquely different than planning from the coordinator side that I did not realize.  Yes, being a professional coordinator made it easier for me to navigate through the system, talking to vendors, reading contracts,  and making logical decisions but there were also aspects that are so personal in the planning that I could not have imagined before actually being a bride myself.  Being on the other side of the wedding planning process, stepping into the shoes of a bride, helped me learn how to better serve my clients.  Even after all these years of planning and coordination, my own wedding experience made me more sensitive to what's important to my clients.

I’ve lived in Roanoke for a little over a decade pursing a career in medicine.  I am a Physician Associate currently working in a clinic and teaching at the University of Lynchburg’s PA Program.  I have always had an interest in the Wedding industry and helped many friends tie the knot prior to starting with AFE.  I love organized checklists and bringing a couple’s vision to life.  Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my husband and spending time with my dogs and cat.  Coordinating weddings is a new passion for me, and I am looking forward to working with our clients.

I have more than 12-years experience as an accomplished Hotel Sales, Marketing and Event Planner and my passion was orchestrating weddings. I became top wedding planner for the Sheraton Monarch Place in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts.  A graduate of the Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston, I have been involved with the hospitality industry for decades and understand the importance of attention to detail,  professional customer service and all aspects of the wedding coordination process.
